19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a difficult season, managing just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a setback at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-time coach his previous coach.

Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's maiden title following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of that year.

Victory also signifies he has secured twenty-one championships at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters together, so to secure a title is really nice," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six finals, featuring in Halle in the past months.

The player's retrieving play style and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had caused observers to question if his capacity to play at the top level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete positively, backed up by an better service.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky opponent, winning four of the final five games to gain the advantage.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his first ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to push for a final set.

The opponent defended four initial chances in a competitive final set before the Russian won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the win with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
